THE PLAN
The problems with local government are so widespread and so ingrained that I believe incremental changes will not materially benefit the taxpayers. I believe government needs to be transformed from top to bottom. Our local government has grown in size and complexity to the point where it has become a hazard to our economy and has lowered the quality of life of its citizens. The purpose of government is to serve its citizens and improve the quality of life, yet our own government is the source of many of our problems and anxieties.
The goal of transformational government reform is to design the perfect government on paper and conform our local government to that design. The reforms will include how we provide government services, how we use technology to provide those services, and how we pay our public servants. Our current local government model is not sustainable.
Transformational government reform will change every facet of government and bring local government from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. The blueprint for these changes is found in our CARE study available on my web site.
